State Road 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Lorraine Road to Bourneside Boulevard from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane or six-lane divided roadway, depending on the location, construction of roundabouts on S.R. 70 at Uihlein Road, Del Webb Boulevard, and Bourneside Boulevard, intersection improvements at the existing signalized intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Lorraine Road, construction of four bridges over two Braden River crossing locations, new drainage system, construction of 10-foot shared use paths, street lighting, and landscaping, and installation of new fiber optic cable connecting the two signalized intersections to Manatee County’s regional Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
Notice: Please refrain from entering the work zone. New pavement has recently been installed that gives the impression of completed areas of work, but these areas are still active and use by non-project staff is a safety hazard as trucks, equipment, and work is ongoing. All new shared use path and roadways remain closed until further notice. The work zone is an active construction area. For the safety of all, please stay out of the work area.
This week’s work will consist of:
- Excavation of the pond on the north side of S.R. 70, west of Uihlein Road.
- Driving bridge piles for the easternmost westbound bridge.
- Begin demolition of the existing box culvert to prepare for a new westbound bridge, east of Uihlein Road.
- Grading stabilization between Bourneside Boulevard and Polo Run on the north side of S.R. 70.
- Installing drainage on the north side of State Road 70 between Uihlein Road and Bourneside Boulevard.
- Installing new signal hardware at the intersection of Post Boulevard and S.R. 70.
Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone throughout the construction limits. State Road 55 (U.S. 19) and State Road 684; from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 and at Royal Palm Drive, Manatee: Construction project: These projects include making improvements along State Road 55 (U.S. 19) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., SR 55 (U.S. 19) from Terra Ceia Road to I-275 (Northbound Ramp) and along State Road 684 at Royal Palm Drive in Manatee County. Improvements will involve milling and resurfacing State Road 55 from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E., implementing safety improvements, guardrail replacements, sidewalk repair, lighting updates, pedestrian signal replacements, and median modifications.
- S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Daily sidewalk closures are scheduled for the next two weeks to accommodate directional bores and open-trench conduit installation. Work will take place during daytime hours beginning Monday, December 15, 2025, and continue throughout the week. No lane closures are expected during the daytime hours; however, pedestrian access will be detoured. Please follow the posted temporary pedestrian detour route.
- S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Motorists should expect the outside right turn lane closures in the southbound direction between 3rd Avenue W. and Manatee Avenue W. No right turn will be allowed onto Manatee Avenue W. from south bound S.R. 55. Work will take place overnight on Wednesday, December 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday. Please follow posted detours, use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
- S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Motorists should expect the inside left turn lane closures in the southbound direction between 17th Avenue W. and 21st Avenue W. No left turns or U-turns will be permitted from south bound S.R. 55. Work is scheduled overnight Wednesday, December 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday. Please follow posted detours, use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.
- S.R. 55 (U.S. 301/U.S. 41) from 23rd Avenue W. to 39th Street E. - Motorists should expect outside lane closures in the northbound direction between 23 Avenue W. and 17 Avenue W. Work is scheduled overnight Wednesday, December 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday. Please use caution and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone.

State Road 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road, Bradenton: Construction project: This project includes widening S.R. 70 from Bourneside Boulevard to Waterbury Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway, Safety features will include roundabouts to be constructed at 197th Street East/Lindrick Lane, 213th Street East, 225th Street East/Panther Ridge Trail and County Road 675/Waterbury Road. The project will also include the installation of a new drainage system, new curb and gutter, construction of 10-foot shared-use paths and 5-foot paved shoulders on both sides of the roadway, street lighting throughout the project and landscaping inside the roundabouts.

- Continuing eastbound construction with base work between Panther Ridge Trail and east of Meadow Dove Lane on the south side of S.R. 70.
- Grading for curb and stabilization east of Lindrick Lane for future eastbound lanes.
- Grading embankment west of Lindrick Lane for future eastbound lanes.
- Backfilling of a box culvert between Lindrick Lane and 213th Street within the existing S.R. 70 lanes where traffic was previously diverted.
- Clearing on the north side of S.R. 70 for future shared-use path at 197th Street.
- Relocating utilities on the north side of S.R. 70.
Meadow Dove Lane will be closed beginning January 12, 2026, for construction of the south portion of the Meadow Dove Lane/C.R. 675 roundabout. During the closure, no traffic will be permitted to enter or exit Meadow Dove Lane via S.R. 70. A full detour will be in place, with message boards directing traffic along the detour route. The closure is expected to remain in effect for approximately 60 days.

State Road 789 from Bird Key Drive to Sunset Drive: Construction project: This project includes the addition of dedicated bicycle and transit lanes on the bridge, drainage upgrades, and raising the seawall cap near Sunset Drive. Other project activities include resurfacing the roadway throughout the project corridor and the installation of new traffic signals at the intersections of Sunset Drive, Golden Gate Drive, and Bird Key Drive. The project also includes relocating palm trees and small shrubs from their current locations on the eastern area of the John Ringling Causeway to medians closer to St. Armands Circle.
This week’s work will consist of:
- Mobilize construction equipment, including delivery of machinery and materials.
- Install Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) signs and devices.
- Install temporary pedestrian paths around the work zone. Please use designated paths and follow posted detour signs.
- Clear within the right of way and install erosion-control devices.
Lane closures will be in place during various phases of the project. Initial pre-phase work involves building a temporary roadway for use during subsequent phases. This work will not impact existing travel lane configuration.
Construction will primarily take place during daytime hours, with occasional nighttime work. Expect noise from backup alarms, construction equipment, pumps, and power tools during daytime and nighttime operations.
During construction, the speed limit on Gulfstream Avenue and John Ringling Causeway (S.R. 789) will be reduced to 35 mph. Speeding fines are doubled in the construction zone when workers are present. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously and watch for workers, construction vehicles, pickup trucks, and other equipment entering or exiting travel lanes.

I-75 at S.R. 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on- and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at S.R. 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.

Motorists should expect multiple closures through January for crews to complete overhead work on the elevated roadway:
During the nighttime/overnight hours from Sunday, January 4 through Friday, January 16, S.R. 84/Davis Boulevard will be closed from Market Street to C.R. 951/Collier Boulevard. Motorists will need to use Market Street and Business Circle S. for travel.
During nighttime/overnight hours from Sunday, January 4 through Friday, January 16 the southbound I-75 on-ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard (S.R. 951) will be closed. During this time, motorists will be able to use southbound Collier Boulevard to access the ramp by continuing northbound on Collier Boulevard to the intersection of Magnolia Pond Road / City Gate Boulevard. From there, drivers can make a U-turn to proceed south on Collier Boulevard and access the southbound I-75 on-ramp immediately after the I-75 overpass via a left turn.
Overnight on Sunday, January 4, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures for southbound and northbound C.R. 951/Collier Boulevard for crews to continue overhead bridge work.
Motorists should expect lane shifts on S.R./C.R.951/Collier Boulevard from Business Circle South to I-75 to create work zones for crews to construct the elevated roadway.
Motorists should expect the outside right turn lane from southbound S.R. 951 to westbound S.R. 84/Davis Boulevard closed. Drivers can continue to turn right from the remaining open turn lane. This closure is needed for crews to begin work for the bridge foundation installation and will remain in place through job completion.
Pedestrians should expect a sidewalk closure along S.R. 84 (Davis Boulevard) just west of S.R. 951 (Collier Boulevard) and along S.R. 951 (Collier Boulevard) between S.R. 84 (Davis Boulevard) and Business Circle North. Pedestrians may use S.R. 84 (Davis Boulevard) to Market Street to Business Circle South to access S.R. 951 (Collier Boulevard).
Motorists are advised that the S.R. 84 (Davis Boulevard) eastbound direct access ramp heading south to S.R. 951 (Collier Boulevard) is permanently closed. The eastbound to southbound right turn will be available at the intersection.
Motorists should expect reduced lane widths for southbound Collier Boulevard between Business Circle North and Business Circle South.

I-75 at Pine Ridge Road (exit 107) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 at Pine Ridge Road interchange. The interchange improvements include reconstruction of the Pine Ridge Road Interchange converting to a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) design, reconstruction of the interchange on and off ramps, construction of pedestrian and bicycle accommodations through the interchange, installation of new signals at the ramps, and resurfacing of Pine Ridge Road through the project area.
The following activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.
During the nighttime/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., motorists should anticipate lane closures on Pine Ridge Road. Please use extra caution when driving through this area and expect delays.
Please note that the westbound lanes of Pine Ridge Road have shifted one lane to the north, back to their original position, and the eastbound lanes of Pine Ridge Road, west of I-75, have shifted one lane to the south. Traffic on the southbound off-ramp has shifted one lane to the east.

I-75 at Toledo Blade Boulevard (exit 179) and Sumter Boulevard (exit 182) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is making improvements to the I-75 at Toledo Blade Boulevard and I-75 at Sumter Boulevard interchanges. Improvements for both interchanges include the installation of signals at both ramp connections, controlled pedestrian crosswalks, intersection lighting, and the addition of northbound I-75 free flow on-ramps from southbound Toledo Blade Boulevard and from southbound Sumter Boulevard. In addition, northbound lanes will be widened to provide two full lanes through the Toledo Blade Boulevard interchange. At the Sumter Boulevard interchange, dual left turn lanes will be added from northbound Sumter Boulevard onto northbound I-75.

S.R. 29 and S.R. 90 (U.S. 41) Resurfacing and Road Improvements: FDOT is resurfacing S.R. 29 from north of Wagon Wheel Road to south of I-75, and S.R. 90 (U.S. 41) from south of Southwest Boulevard to north of Thomasson Drive in Collier County. Improvements to both S.R. 29 and U.S. 41 include milling and resurfacing, shoulder improvements and new signing and pavement markings. Additional improvements to U.S. 41 include reconstruction of concrete sidewalks, replacement of curbs and installation of pedestrian curb ramps, and replacement of traffic signal detection loops.

Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will construct median modifications to reduce conflict points and improve safety starting in early 2026 at the intersections of U.S. 41 and 16th Avenue East and U.S. 41 and 61st Street East (Palm View Road). The project improvements also include milling and resurfacing U.S. 41 from north of State Road (S.R.) 55 (U.S. 19) to north of 69th Street East/73rd Street East (Erie Road). Crews will apply new signing and pavement markings once the final paving has been completed. The project limits are approximately 2.6 miles.

Fruitville Road (SR 780) at Beneva Road: Construction/safety project: Crews are working on milling and resurfacing, widening, pavement reconstruction, driveway and turn lane improvements, sidewalks and curb, drainage modifications, signing and pavement markings and signalization on a .15-mile stretch of Fruitville Road, including the intersection at Beneva Road and Fruitville Road.
- Motorists can expect nighttime lane closures throughout construction.
- Please be aware of workers and construction equipment /noise during the overnight hours. Plan for additional time or choose an alternate route if needed.
- Pedestrians can expect detours throughout the project and are encouraged to use caution.

U.S. 27 (S.R. 25) at S.R. 78 Intersection: Construction project: Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement. Other improvements include milling, resurfacing, drainage, guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers, traffic signage, detours, and equipment throughout the project.
- S.R. 78 Industrial Drive was closed between Glades Business Park and S.R. 78 began October 7, 2025. S.R. 78 traffic followed posted detour signs and temporary pavement along the south side of S.R. 78. Local traffic needing to access Glades Business Park followed posted detour signs and accessed Industrial Drive from U.S. 27. Northbound U.S. 27 traffic followed the new traffic pattern along the newly constructed northbound roadway. The section of roadway is scheduled to reopen on 12/19/25.
- S.R. 78 traffic shift: Traffic on S.R. 78 will shift onto the newly constructed roadway, replacing the temporary pavement along the east side of S.R. 78. The traffic shift is anticipated to take place on Dec. 19, 2025
- U.S. 27 and S.R. 78 lane impacts: Intermittent lane closures will occur on U.S. 27 for curb installation, sodding, milling and resurfacing, concrete grinding, joint sealing, and thermoplastic placement from Oct. 27 through Dec. 23, 2025. Intermittent lane closures will also occur on S.R. 78 for milling and resurfacing, concrete grinding, joint sealing, and thermoplastic placement from Nov. 24 through Dec. 23, 2025. At least one lane in each direction will remain open, and flagging operations will be used as needed to maintain traffic flow.
- Motorists should use caution, follow posted signage, and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
Estimated completion is fall 2025.

S.R. 66 from U.S. 17 (S.R. 35) to Charlie Creek: Construction project: Crews have completed major reconstruction activities along S.R. 66 from U.S. 17 to Charlie Creek. The project included milling and resurfacing, sidewalk construction, drainage improvements, guardrail installation, curb and gutter work, new pavement markings, and other safety enhancements.
- The newly reconstructed roadway is open to traffic in both directions.
- Eastbound and westbound lane closures and flagging operations will occur from Magnolia Street to Acorn Road from Monday, Dec. 15, through Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- No construction activities are scheduled from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 2, in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
- Motorists should anticipate longer delays in queues, follow posted signs, follow the speed limit, and consider alternative routes.

SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Road embankment installation continues on the northbound roadway from Aucilla Drive to U.S. 41. As embankment is completed, drainage installations, subgrade mixing, curb placement, and roadway grading will continue. Sod installation, signal, ITS, and lighting work are ongoing. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations. Pothole maintenance will continue as necessary on all current travel ways through the project. Work to construct the Bridge Church driveway is planned to commence in the coming weeks. Contractor personnel will not be on site from December 24 to January 5.

S.R. 70/700 (U.S. 98) from West of U.S. 98 to East of NW 5th Avenue: Construction project: Crews will begin milling and resurfacing operations on S.R. 70/700 (U.S. 98) from west of U.S. 98 to east of NW 5th Avenue starting in October 2025. Work will include milling, resurfacing, and roadway restoration along the project corridor.
- Shoulder closures and intermittent lane closures may occur during construction. Motorists should expect possible traffic shifts and delays. Access to local driveways and businesses will be maintained at all times.
- Motorists should use caution, reduce speed, and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.

West Main Street from Hanchey Road to west of Florida Avenue: Construction project: Crews have begun a construction project along West Main Street from Hanchey Road to west of Florida Avenue. The project includes sidewalk construction, drainage improvements, curb and gutter work, new pavement markings, and replacement of ADA-compliant curb ramps.
- Intermittent eastbound lane closures with a flagging operation are scheduled from Monday, Dec. 11, through Dec. 19, 2025.
- Driveway closures will occur at various locations throughout the project limits from Monday, Dec. 15, through Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, as crews continue sidewalk and drainage work. Access will be maintained where possible, and advance notice will be provided to affected properties.
- Additional shoulder and lane closures may take place as construction progresses
- Motorists should use caution, reduce speed, and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
- Construction activities will be suspended beginning Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, and are scheduled to resume Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, following the New Year holiday.

S.R. 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to S.R. 64 (Manatee Avenue West): Construction project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be milling and resurfacing approximately four miles of S.R. 789 from the Coquina Park entrance to S.R. 64/Manatee Avenue West in fall 2025. In addition to milling and resurfacing, crews will install traffic monitoring devices and will apply new signing and pavement markings. To minimize inconvenience, the project will be done overnight. The project was accelerated to start just after turtle nesting season ends in 2025, and is expected to finish before the next nesting season starts in 2026.
- Motorists can expect overnight single-lane closures through the length of the project.
- Please be aware of workers and construction equipment /noise during the overnight hours. Plan for additional time or choose an alternate route if possible.
- Work will be suspended for the holidays from December 19, 2025, to January 5, 2026.
- The estimated completion is spring of 2026.

S.R. 78 from Lemkin Creek to S.R. 15/U.S. 98: Construction project: Crews are performing thermoplastic pavement marking operations along S.R. 78.
- Motorists should use caution, reduce speed in the area, and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.
- No construction activities are scheduled from Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, in observance of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Estimated remaining duration of activities is two weeks.

SR 82 from Ford Street to Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard: The improvements under this contract consist of pedestrian and safety upgrades to include milling, resurfacing, signing and pavement markings, lighting, signalization, and other incidental construction for intersection improvements along SR 82 from Ford Street to Veronica Shoemaker Boulevard.
- Motorists should expect intermittent nighttime/overnight lane closures on the inside and outside, eastbound and westbound lanes throughout the duration of the project. Closures will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

S.R. 15/U.S. 441 from NW 36th St to NE 120th St: Construction project: Crews are performing milling and resurfacing operations along S.R. 15/U.S. 441 from the Martin County Line to SE 30th Terrace. Work will occur during both daytime and nighttime hours.

In addition to resurfacing crews will install curb and gutter, sidewalk, signalization, lighting, pedestrian beacons at crosswalks, vehicle detection systems and apply new signing and pavement markings.

The project improvements include milling and resurfacing, shoulder and ramp work, overbuilding for cross-slope correction, guardrail and signing, and pavement markings.

Road Watch Update:

- Since the start of construction of the Little Pine Island Bridge, boaters are asked to be aware of construction equipment and erosion control measures that are in place.

SR 739 from north of the Caloosahatchee River to SR 78 (Bayshore Road): Construction Project: This project is intended to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce crashes by constructing a continuous raised median, with bi-directional and full median openings. Proposed improvements also consist of milling and resurfacing of the roadway, two pedestrian hybrid beacons, upgrading the traffic signal at Pondella Road, ADA upgrades, lighting, signing and pavement markings, and drainage improvements.
- On Wednesday night, September 17, 2025, the left (inside) lanes on northbound and southbound SR 739 were reopened, and the right (outside) lanes were then closed. This traffic shift marks the beginning of Phase 2 of the project.
- During this time, pedestrians should follow the posted detour to access Pondella Road from Pine Island Road.
- Please use caution in the area, as crews will be working on and near the roadway.
