Other features of this project include signalization, lighting and signing, and pavement markings along State Road (S.R.) 78 from Chiquita Boulevard to Santa Barbara Boulevard in Lee County.

  • SR 78 (Pine Island Road) from west of Chiquita Boulevard to west of Santa Barbara Boulevard: Construction Project: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One will be making roadway improvements including milling and resurfacing, widening, turn-lane construction, and median modifications. Other features of this project include signalization, lighting and signing, and pavement markings along State Road 78 from Chiquita Boulevard to Santa Barbara Boulevard.

    • Motorists traveling eastbound on Pine Island Road will not be able to access the left (northbound) turn lane onto Southwest 10th Place. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

      • Motorists traveling eastbound SR 78 attempting to access Southwest 10th Place are encouraged to continue eastbound until they reach Nicholas Parkway and U-turn at the intersection. They can then continue westbound until they reach Southwest 10th Place.
    • Motorists traveling westbound on Pine Island Road will not be able to access the left (southbound) turn lane onto Skyline Boulevard. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route.
      • Motorists traveling westbound SR 78 attempting to access Skyline Boulevard are encouraged to continue westbound until they reach Chiquita Boulevard and U-turn at the intersection. They can then continue eastbound until they reach Skyline Boulevard.
    • The current work schedule is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
