S 301 from 12th Street to Dr. Martin Luther King Way: Construction: Crews will begin intersection improvements along US 301 in Sarasota County. The project was requested by the Traffic Safety Department to improve safety and enhance traffic flow along the corridor. Improvements include adding signal heads, additional signage, and special emphasis crosswalks. Additional improvements include a proposed restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT) at the 21st Street intersection adding a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) on mast-arm assemblies.
- Due to needed schedule changes after delays from Hurricanes Helene and Milton, daytime lane closures are allowable from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight lane closures for paving. There will be a permanent merge lane closure at 12th Street turning right onto US 301 South. The intersection improvement project will go through late spring 2025.
- Travel times will be monitored. Motorists may wish to add additional travel time or choose an alternate route.
