The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. The trail is within the right of way limits of abandoned CSX railroad tracks and the proposed bridges will span over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758). Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramps will also be constructed on both approaches to each bridge along with minor roadway and trail modifications to accommodate the new bridges. 

Improvements

• Construction of two pedestrian bridges on the Legacy Trail
• New signalization at both intersections will provide safer crossing
• MSE retaining wall ramps will also be constructed for stability and aesthetics

Schedule

• Construction is anticipated to start fall of 2023
• Expect noise from construction equipment,  large trucks, and back-up alarms
• Expect occasional nighttime shoulder and/or lane closures during construction to
• install beams
• Expected completion is winter 2024/2025
• Estimated cost: $13.2 million
