About
The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. The trail is within the right of way limits of abandoned CSX railroad tracks and the proposed bridges will span over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758). Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramps will also be constructed on both approaches to each bridge along with minor roadway and trail modifications to accommodate the new bridges.

SR 72 Clark Road and the Legacy Trail: Construction Project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- On the evening of April 3, there will be east and westbound lane closures on Clark Road beginning at 7 p.m. and lasting until 6 a.m. the next morning. The detour is necessary so that crews can install concrete prestressed beams.
- Additional lane closures and detours will be implemented in April/May to conduct overhead bridge work and for the removal of the Legacy Trail crosswalk at Clark Road (once the bridge is open for pedestrian and cyclist traffic).
- Project completion is expected in June 2025.
SR 758 Bee Ridge Road at the Legacy Trail: Construction project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- Through the month of April, there will be overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. The detours are necessary so crews can conduct overhead bridge construction operations and remove the existing roadway cross walk once the bridge is open.
- Final project completion is in June 2025.
