About
The Florida Department of Transportation will be constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. The trail is within the right of way limits of abandoned CSX railroad tracks and the proposed bridges will span over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758). Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) retaining wall ramps will also be constructed on both approaches to each bridge along with minor roadway and trail modifications to accommodate the new bridges.

SR 758 Bee Ridge Road at the Legacy Trail: Construction project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- Through the month of April, there will be east and westbound lane closures on Bee Ridge Road starting at 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. The detours are necessary so crews can conduct overhead bridge construction and eventually remove the existing roadway crosswalk, once the bridge is open.
- DETOURS: Expected to be intermittent during the rest of April.
- Final project completion is in June 2025.
SR 72/Clark Road and the Legacy Trail: Construction Project: Crews are constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County.
- Additional lane closures and detours will be needed in April/May to conduct overhead bridge work and for the eventual removal of the Legacy Trail crosswalk at Clark Road.
