Project Details
About
State Road 80 from North of Captain Hendry Drive to West of Forrey Drive is currently a four-lane urban highway divided by a two-way left-turn lane running east and west through the City of LaBelle in Hendry County. The posted speed limit varies between 35 and 40 miles per hour through the downtown area, and is 50 miles per hour near the project limits. The corridor includes sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides of the roadway.
The current Design project is intended to enhance traffic flow and reduce crashes. It consists of several intersection improvements and will replace the existing two-way left-turn lanes with raised medians. A signal is proposed to be installed at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd and State Road 80. Additional project elements include an analysis of existing structures and the prevailing drainage conditions. All improvements are anticipated to occur within the existing right-of-way.
