The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is proposing improvements along State Road (SR) 45 (US 41) in North Fort Myers, Lee County. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the existing roadway and improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce crashes along the corridor. The project consists of repaving the roadway from north of Pondella Road to north of SR 78. FDOT is also proposing the construction of a bi-directional median opening with lighting at Evergreen Road and a bi-directional median opening at Judd Road. Additional improvements include constructing high emphasis crosswalks at four (4) non-signalized intersections and lighting enhancements at the traffic signal at SR 78.
