439013-1 8th Avenue West Pedestrian Safety Improvements
Project Details
About
FDOT is designing medians and crosswalks on 8th Avenue West between 14th Street West and 9th Street West for pedestrians. This project also creates dedicated turn lanes at most of the intersections. In addition, the project will create dual eastbound left-turn lanes at the 8th Avenue West/9th Street West intersection to allow room for more vehicles. Currently pedestrians are crossing 8th Avenue West anywhere they choose to cross. The pedestrian channelization in the medians will help “funnel” pedestrians to designated crossings making the roadway safer.
Public Involvement
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, in coordination with the City of Bradenton, will hold a public hearing about the design of pedestrian improvements on 8th Avenue West from 14th Street West to 9th Street West. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2016 at the City of Bradenton Council Chambers. The evening will begin with an open house at 5 p.m., with the formal public hearing and presentation beginning at 6 p.m.
