BARTOW, Fla. – A road watch alert was issued Thursday, September 28, about a maintenance repair on US 41 from 10th Street North to 9th Street North for Tuesday, October 10. Motorists were told to expect slow-moving traffic and possible delays. Due to unforeseen circumstances with repairs to the stormwater piping, all lanes of US 41 westbound were closed this morning at Goodlette-Frank Road and will remain closed through Thursday, October 12. If this should change, the public will be notified.

Provisions have been made to turn the westbound two lanes onto Goodlette-Frank Road into a constant right turn to ease the flow of traffic. The traffic signal at this location has been updated to reflect the change.

Engineers are also working on the possibility of safely opening one lane during peak hours Wednesday and Thursday to alleviate traffic backup. As more information becomes available, we will provide an update.

Meanwhile, motorists are encouraged to exercise patience and use alternate routes until all lanes have reopened.

Alternate Routes are as follows:

All westbound traffic on US 41, should turn right (northbound) on Airport Road, then turn left (heading west) on Golden Gate Parkway to rejoin US 41.

All eastbound traffic will experience left lane closures at Goodlette-Frank Road and should make a left turn (northbound) on SR 84 (Davis Blvd.) or Airport Road then turn left (heading west) on Golden Gate Parkway to rejoin Goodlette-Frank Road.
