FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will hold a public meeting regarding the US 41 North Port Safety Improvements project on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The in-person public meeting (open house format) will begin at 5:00 p.m. The virtual meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.

FDOT, District One, is proposing improvements at multiple intersections along US 41 in Sarasota County. The purpose of the improvements is to improve safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce crashes. The proposed improvements include median modifications at the following six (6) intersections along the corridor: Lazy River Road, Riverwalk Drive/De Miranda Avenue, De Leon Drive, Palm Harbor Drive, Blackburn Boulevard/Ortega Place, and El Prado Avenue. Additional improvements include constructing a southbound left turn lane at El Prado Avenue and lengthening the southbound left turn lane at Ortiz Boulevard.

The Department is offering multiple ways for the community to participate in the public meeting. All participants, regardless of platform they choose, will participate in the same live meeting.

In-Person Option: Attend in person from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church North Port, 4285 Wesley Lane, North Port, FL 34287. Attendees who are not feeling well should not attend the in-person meeting.

Virtual Option: Attend virtually from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. from a computer, tablet, or mobile device. You can register in advance at fdot.cc/US_41_North_Port_Safety_Improvements. Once registered, attendees will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting online. Please note, Internet Explorer cannot be used to register or attend this webinar.
