SARASOTA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, will host a Pre-Construction Information Session for the interchange improvements at I-75 at Fruitville Road in Sarasota County.

The Information Session will be held as an “open house” from 4 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Columbus Hall, 4880 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34232.

The interchange improvements include the design of a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI); widening about 2 miles of I-75 to a six-lane highway with three through lanes per direction; reconstructing I-75 bridges over Fruitville Road and Palmer Boulevard; widening bridges over Main A Canal; installing emergency stopping sites on off-ramps; widening Fruitville Road from Honore Avenue to east of Coburn Road; installing 7-foot buffered bike lanes and 6-foot sidewalks on Fruitville Road; replacing traffic signals on Fruitville Road at Paramount Drive, Cattlemen Road, and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard; installing new lighting on Fruitville Road; constructing a noise wall on I-75 northbound from Bee Ridge Road on-ramp to just north of Main A Canal; and relocating a tower.

The DDI will significantly reduce delay on Fruitville Road and reduce the number of conflict points to improve overall safety for all users. The DDI also offers the ability to accommodate future traffic volume growth. This project has been advanced as a part the Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative.
