LAKELAND HILLS BOULEVARD CONSTRUCTION AND SPRING TRAINING
BARTOW, Fla. – A major FDOT construction project on SR 33 (Lakeland Hills Boulevard) is currently underway from Parkview Place to north of Granada Street, making it a little different this year for motorists traveling to Detroit Tiger’s Spring Training home games.
As part of construction, Lakeland Hills Boulevard has been reduced to one lane in each direction with limited left turn lanes while crews work on underground systems on the east side of the roadway. Traffic is now shifted to the west side of the roadway.
In an effort to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible during the games, the City of Lakeland Traffic Operations will be monitoring traffic and manually operating the traffic signals through their traffic monitoring center. To help you navigate through the area and arrive in your seat by first pitch, here’s some things you may need to know and suggestions on ways to get there:
- Left turns are limited to signalized intersections. If you’re used to making left turns at unsignalized side streets, that won’t be possible this year. You can still make left turns at all signalized intersections, including Granada Street and East Bella Vista Street.
- Northbound drivers on Lakeland Hills Boulevard can turn right into the stadium or turn right on East Bella Vista Street and left on Gilmore Avenue to access the parking lot.
- Southbound drivers on Lakeland Hills Boulevard should turn left on Granada Street and right into the parking lot. Left turns into the stadium’s main entrance will not be available.
- Consider alternate routes including Granada Street, East Bella Vista Street and West Lake Parker Drive.
- The Tigertown Express, provided by Citrus Connection, is a great stress-free option for getting to all Detroit Tigers Spring Training home games and utilizing these shuttles will help to reduce traffic volume. Check the Tigertown Express schedule to plan your ride: Routes - Citrus Connection.
- No matter how you choose to get there, make sure to allow extra time, be patient, and enjoy the games!
