Public Meeting for I-75 Lee County Rest Area Expansion Feasibility Study
Lee County, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public meeting for the I-75 Lee County Rest Area Expansion Feasibility Study at the northeast quadrant of I-75 and Daniels Parkway in Lee County.
This Feasibility Study will evaluate the need to enhance vehicle capacity for truck and freight parking along the I-75 corridor Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) in Lee County, Florida. The goal is to alleviate congestion and reduce carbon emissions at the northeast quadrant of I-75 and Daniels Parkway. Proposed improvements may involve demolishing and reconstructing existing rest area facilities.
The study intends to identify strategies for increasing truck parking and improving circulation paths to ensure safe separation between trucks and general vehicles. Current conditions at the rest area are inadequate, lacking proper lighting, sidewalks, crosswalks, and multimodal features. Enhancements are necessary to create a secure environment for drivers, pedestrians, and potential transit services. Additional improvements will focus on safety enhancements, better site access, and improved pedestrian and bicycle connectivity. This study seeks to address critical infrastructure needs to support truck parking demands while enhancing safety and accessibility for all users.
The I-75 Lee County Rest Area Expansion Feasibility Study Public Meeting is being conducted to present information about the preliminary alternatives and provides the opportunity for the public to express their views about the project. The information presented during either format will be the same and all attendees will have opportunity to comment.
