Temporary Overnight Lane Closures on SB US 41 near Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport for Sign Removal
MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be removing an overhead sign on southbound US 41 near Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport due to inspection findings. The removal is scheduled to take place in the coming nights once all necessary equipment is in place.
Planned Work Details:
- February 14: The sign removal will occur between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, with the actual removal taking approximately one hour.
- Lane Closures: All three southbound lanes of US 41 will be temporarily closed during the operation.
- Detour Route (Attached):
- Through traffic will be detoured east at Tallevast Road, around Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, and back to southbound US 41.
- Local traffic that passes Tallevast Road will be rerouted west onto Edwards Road, south at Downey Road, east on Poinciana/Bayshore Road to College Drive, and then back onto US 41 southbound.
Additional Information:
- The removal process requires the use of cranes and flatbed trucks.
- The vertical support structure will remain in place.
- Since the sign is near the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, authorities have been notified. The airport will temporarily shut down the smaller SW/NE runway during the operation, with no impact to overall airport operations.
