Florida Power and Light Utility to Conduct Power Line Procedure on I-75 South of University Parkway
Florida Highway Patrol will direct a traffic pacing operation to control traffic for several hours starting at midnight on February 6, 2025
SARASOTA, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) along with Florida Power and Light (FPL) and the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) will collaborate to assist FPL as a power cable is stretched across all lanes of I-75 south of University Parkway starting at midnight on Thursday, February 6 and continuing until 2 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025.
There will be a temporary stoppage/slowdown of traffic near University Parkway both northbound and southbound as FHP pacing operations lead motorists on a slow approach, allowing the FPL crews to pull the cable across I-75 as traffic is managed by FHP patrol cars. The pacing operation will begin prior to the cable maneuver, allowing crews time to pull the cable across I-75 lanes safely. Once the procedure is complete, traffic will again flow normally.
Please be aware of patrol cars, uniformed officers, FPL and FDOT crews in the area. Please slow down and use caution in the area, plan for delays or use an alternate route if possible.
