Lane Closures Scheduled on Westbound I-4 near Exit 38 in Lakeland
LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is advising motorists of planned lane closures on westbound I-4 near Exit 38 in Lakeland due to repair work addressing a roadway depression.
Closure Details:
- Date: Thursday, January 23, 2025
- Time: 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Friday morning)
- Lane Closures: The center and inside lanes will be closed. The outside lane and shoulder will remain open for commuters.
Reason for Work:
The depression in the roadway was caused by a utility bore performed in August. The utility company will conduct a Ground Penetration Radar (GPR) scan of the area to address the issue. Following the scan review, the repair process will include:
- Determining the best course of action to fill the void beneath the road.
- Adding asphalt to smooth the roadway surface as a temporary measure until a mill and resurface of the area can be scheduled.
