Northbound lanes will remain closed today through Monday, January 27

BRADENTON, Fla. –The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is working together with the City of Bradenton to secure the area and coordinate a repair to the City’s watermain, which was damaged in the early morning hours today. Water seeped into the FDOT project limits undermining the roadway integrity. As a result, the northbound lanes on US Business 41 between 6th Avenue West and Manatee Avenue will remain closed over the weekend to maintain motorist safety.

Watermain components for the repairs are being secured and will be installed Monday, weather permitting. Until repairs are made, all northbound lanes on US Business 41 will be closed at 6th Avenue to Manatee Avenue. Detour signage is being installed to assist with alternate routes.

Northbound motorists can turn right onto 6th Avenue West, continue eastbound to US 41/Tamiami Trail and make a left turn northbound to cross the river via the Manatee River Bridge. Alternatively, to cross using the Green Bridge, motorists could turn right on eastbound 6th Avenue West and then left onto US 41/Tamiami Trail and make a left turn onto Manatee Avenue West. Motorists would then turn right onto US Business 41 northbound to the Green Bridge.

Motorists are urged to use caution, follow posted detours or use an alternate route.
