PRE-CONSTURCTION INFORMATION SESSION I-4 at SR 33 Interchange Improvements and Wildlife Crossings Construction Project In-Person: December 3, 2024 anytime between 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Bartow, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a pre-construction information session for the SR 33 at I-4 Interchange Improvements and Wildlife Crossings Construction Project in Polk County.
The project will focus on upgrading the SR 33 at I-4 interchange in Lakeland, a key junction for travelers across the region. In addition to expanding and reconfiguring the interchange to improve traffic capacity and safety, the project will include resurfacing SR 33 from Old Combee Road to north of Tomkow Road, and the construction of two wildlife crossings designed to allow animals safe passage over and under the highway, thereby reducing the risk of wildlife-vehicle collisions and supporting the preservation of local ecosystems. Project benefits can include an important transportation and environmental initiative that will enhance traffic flow while prioritizing wildlife conservation in Central Florida. Construction is set to begin January 6, 2024.
The SR 33 at I-4 Interchange Improvements and Wildlife Crossings Pre-Construction information session is being conducted to present information about the construction. The pre-construction information session will be held on December 3, 2024, at the Florida Polytechnic University 4700 Research Way, Lakeland, FL 33805 in the Barnett Applied Research Center (Room 2200) between 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. The project team will be available for discussion.
