FDOT Announces Update on Caloosahatchee River Bridge Full Closure
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Fort Myers community is eagerly awaiting updates as the full closure of the Caloosahatchee River Bridge nears its end. The bridge will remain completely closed through August 11, 2024. After this date, the bridge will reopen, but nighttime closures and daytime lane restrictions will be in place.
FDOT extends its gratitude to the residents for their patience and to city and county officials for partnering with the agency to expedite this portion of the construction. Despite inclement weather, FDOT successfully completed this phase within the allotted timeframe. This full bridge closure was essential to completing the project one year and four months ahead of schedule.
The entire project is anticipated to be completed by December 24, 2024, or early 2025, weather permitting. In the coming days, FDOT will provide construction details, next steps and conduct media interviews in the coming days.
