Update on Caloosahatchee River Bridge Construction Project Overall project 301 days ahead of schedule
FORT MYER, Fla. – It has been six weeks since the complete closure of the Caloosahatchee River Bridge, with four weeks remaining. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Lee County are working diligently to keep the public informed about delays and detours. They are also adjusting traffic signal timings to alleviate congestion over the next month.
This full bridge closure is crucial for completing the project one year and four months ahead of schedule. The work accomplished in the past six weeks has advanced the project by 301 days. During this period, crews have demolished and replaced most of the median bridge deck. A new median barrier wall has been installed as well as a section of the northbound guardrail. The majority of the concrete pours are finished. Crews are preparing for future deck pours by placing the stay-in-place deck forms and median rebar. On the southern end of the bridge, median deck removal is ongoing.
