Motorists Asked To Use Extra Caution To Safeguard Extra Work Crews On Roadways In Polk County
Bartow, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One is pleased to announce the annual Maintenance Rating Program (MRP) Workshop, set to take place June 10 -13, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the District One Conference Center located at 801 North Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33831.
This workshop is an essential event aimed at ensuring the continued excellence and consistency of our maintenance efforts across the district. Be on the lookout Tuesday, June 11th for approximately 25 teams. They will be on various roadways conducting a consistency check to maintain their MRP team leader status.
The public should be aware of the presence of these teams and exercise caution while driving in the following areas:
- US 98 north of Bartow Ford
- Polk Parkway east of US 98
- SR 540 east of Spirit Lake Rd.
- US 17 at Bomber Rd.
Each location will have two points on both sides of the roadway. Teams will be on-site from approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. walking the sides of the road to evaluate and identify any deficiencies.
In addition to the daytime evaluations, teams will also conduct a night run, performing drive-through inspections to check the reflectivity of signs, striping, raised pavement markers, and lighting conditions, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, remain vigilant, and follow any temporary traffic controls that may be in place. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated.
