OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation’s contractor will begin a single-lane closure on the outside westbound lane of SR 70 between NE 17th Avenue and 1,000-feet west of NE 14th Avenue. The single-lane closure will start the evening of May 20 and continue for four weeks, until approximately June 20, 2024.  This will allow crews to remove existing curbs and sidewalks and install new paved walkways and curbs. The inside westbound lane will remain open and access to all businesses will be maintained. The eastbound traffic lanes on SR 70 will remain open during this time. Motorists can expect traffic delays and are urged to use caution.
