PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Thank you for reaching out to the Florida Department of Transportation regarding the Peace River Bridge in Punta Gorda. With any and all incidents, infrastructure is always thoroughly inspected to ensure the safety of the traveling public.

While the boat has been removed from the area, we want to reassure everyone that the bridge has already undergone inspections by our qualified engineers and has been deemed safe for crossing and poses no risk for travelers at this time.

FDOT will continue to monitor the area and coordinate as necessary with our local partners including FWC, law enforcement, and the Coast Guard.
