Watch for nighttime/overnight lane closures, Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 as crews place miscellaneous asphalt around guardrail. Watch for daytime turn lane closures at Polk State College and Circle B Bar Ranch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews widen for shoulders and keyhole bike lanes. Motorists may turn right from the travel lane. Use caution and watch for workers close to the road.

This week, crews will be installing signs along US17, SR 540, and 1st Street South.
- Northbound 1st Street South at the intersection with SR 540 has been reduced to one lane and will remain that way as this is a permanent alignment. A new permanent traffic separator has been constructed in the location of the old northbound inside lane.
- Southbound 1st Street South will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, 2024.
- SR 540 westbound approaching US 17 will be reduced to two lanes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, 2024.
- SR 540 eastbound from US 17 to 1st Street will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, 2024.
- US 17 northbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with SR 540 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, 2024.
- US 17 southbound will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with SR 540 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 12, through Thursday, May 16, 2024.

This week the contractor will continue paving US 92, reconstructing driveway entrances and widening throughout the project. Watch for daytime lane closures and be prepared to merge.

Sunday, May 12th to Saturday, May 18th:
For the safety of the traveling motorists and the construction crews, the bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 14. These nighttime closures are necessary for crews to perform bridge work associated with the pedestrian improvements.
As part of the Phase I construction plan, the bridge will be reduced to one lane in both northbound and southbound directions for crews to complete this phase of the project. Phase I construction activities are expected to be completed in December 2024.
Electronic message boards will be used to make motorists aware of lane closures and alternate routes that can be used.
Please note that the work schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

This week, crews will be clearing existing vegetation between Lorraine Road and De Webb Boulevard on the south side of SR 70 and clearing the Pond A area on the north side of SR 70, west of Uihlein Road and excavating. Crews will continue excavating the Pond area on the southeast corner of Bourneside Boulevard and SR 70. Material will be hauled to the south side of SR 70 between Bourneside Boulevard and Uihlein Road and placed as roadway fill. Drainage work will continue on SR 70 east of Bourneside Boulevard.
Work will continue constructing eastbound bridges, this will involve driving bridge piles via hydraulic hammer and grading the river channel. This work will occur during daytime hours and produce noise that may be audible to the surrounding area. Bridge work will continue into summer.
All work will be off the roadway with no planned lane closures. Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone by way of the eastbound SR 70 shoulder. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

US 41 from North of Port Commons from north of Port Commons to State College of Florida, Sarasota: Construction project: Project improvements include milling and resurfacing, guardrail, drainage improvements, signing and pavement markings, and signalization improvements. Expected completion is fall 2024.
Daytime Activities:
- Install barrier walls for upcoming lane shifts and close median openings for roadway crossover reconstruction.
- Median openings at Myakka Drive, Riverwalk Drive, Boardwalk, Ortega Place, De Miranda Avenue, Eager Street and Hoffman Street will be closed for reconstruction work. Hoffman Street crossover will be removed and remain permanently closed.
- Motorists will be able to turn right only onto US 41 at these locations.
- Build concrete curb between Tuscola Boulevard and Espanola Drive.
- Curb removal and turn lane reconstruction between Tuscola Boulevard and Ortiz Boulevard.
Daytime Lane Closures:
- Daytime lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Northbound inside lane closures between Tuscola Boulevard and Ortiz Boulevard.
Nighttime Activities:
- Nighttime lane closures Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Northbound inside lane closures between Tuscola Boulevard and Ortiz Boulevard.
Motorists should use caution when making U-turns and be aware of workers in the area.

I-75 at SR 951 (exit 101) Interchange Improvements: FDOT is reconstructing the I-75 southbound on- and off-ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection to the mainline lanes at SR 951 (exit 101). The northeast quadrant loop ramp will be connected to, and accessible only by, a direct flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard starting south of the Davis Boulevard intersection. This single-lane flyover ramp will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a reconstructed I-75 southbound on-ramp. A single-lane flyover ramp extension will carry I-75 southbound traffic over Davis Boulevard to a new signalized intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. This ramp will extend along the western side of Collier Boulevard.
Motorists should expect the outside right turn lane from southbound SR 951 to westbound SR 84/Davis Boulevard closed. Drivers will still be able to turn right from the remaining open turn lane. This closure is needed for crews to begin work for the force main and bridge foundation installation and will remain in place through job completion.
Pedestrians should expect a sidewalk closure along SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) just west of SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) and along SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) between SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) and Business Circle North. Pedestrians may use SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) to Market Street to Business Circle South to access SR 951 (Collier Boulevard).
Motorists are advised that the SR 84 (Davis Boulevard) eastbound direct access ramp heading south to SR 951 (Collier Boulevard) is permanently closed. The eastbound to southbound right turn will be available at the intersection.
Motorists should expect reduced lane widths for southbound Collier Boulevard between Business Circle North and Business Circle South.
Motorists can expect daytime lane closures between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on northbound Collier Boulevard from just south of Beck Boulevard to just south of the southbound on-ramp at I-75.
Motorists can expect lane closures during the overnight/nighttime hours of 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on southbound Collier Boulevard between Beck Boulevard and Business Circle North.
Crews continue to drive pile for the new bridge over Beck Boulevard, east of Collier Boulevard.

Sanibel Causeway Emergency Restoration: Crews have moved traffic to the permanent lanes on the Sanibel Causeway. The causeway islands surrounding the temporary roadway are an active work zone and are currently closed for public access, including from the water.
Motorists should expect traffic to be intermittently stopped at the staging area entrance as equipment crosses the road with materials for work on the south side of McGregor Boulevard.
Motorists should expect daytime lane closures at the intersection of Punta Rassa Road and McGregor Boulevard for Lee County to repair and install temporary traffic signals. On island (westbound) lane closures are not anticipated before 10 a.m. and off island (eastbound) lane closures are not anticipated after 3 p.m. Flagging operations may be required. The work will last approximately 2 weeks. Drivers should be aware of overhead work and construction crews within the median and near the travel lanes.
Motorists should expect one lane of eastbound travel to continue from the toll plaza to Shell Point Road on the south (beach) side of McGregor Boulevard. The shoulder (south/beach side) remains FULLY CLOSED TO ACCESS. This closure is necessary for crews to excavate and install underground devices (marine mattresses) to reinforce the shoreline. This closure is expected to be in place through May 2024. The contractor may intermittently use this lane for materials delivery.
Motorists traveling westbound on McGregor Boulevard may experience short delays for FHP to stop vehicles to allow materials deliveries to access the staging area at Punta Rassa.
Crews are installing underground devices (marine mattresses) to reinforce the shoreline, sea wall, and retaining wall along the Causeway.
Crews continue earthwork and debris removal along the causeway islands. Please expect construction equipment periodically entering/leaving the travel lanes when necessary. The contractor is limiting this interruption during peak hours.
The westbound merge location is now west of the toll plaza. Motorists are urged to use caution and obey the 20 MPH speed limit. Construction vehicles and equipment continue to enter/exit the staging area near this location.
Many oversized vehicles are crossing the causeway to assist with recovery efforts on the island. Please be patient as travel may be slower than usual. Bicyclists are encouraged to utilize another mode of transportation to travel the causeway and pedestrians are not permitted on the Sanibel Causeway. MOTORISTS ARE REMINDED TO OBEY THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 20 MPH THROUGHOUT THE WORK ZONE.

US 301 from 25th Court East to 13th Avenue East: Construction project: Crews have begun a 7.6-mile improvements project consisting of milling and resurfacing the roadway, widening in areas, base work, curb and gutter, sidewalk, guardrail, drainage improvements, bridge expansion joints, signalization, lighting, and signing and pavement marking.
- Motorists should expect shoulder closures including pedestrian access restrictions along the US 301 corridor northbound and southbound between 25th Court East and 9th Avenue East. Alternate pedestrian routes will be clearly posted. To maintain safety, pedestrians should follow the posted detour signage.
- Motorists can expect right-turn lane closures at the intersections of US 301 and Tallevast Road to 9th Avenue East from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- The project’s expected completion is late 2024.

Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge Permanent Repairs: Construction project: As part of the Emergency Restoration of the Pine Island Road Causeway and Bridge, crews will be working in the project boundaries along CR 78 Pine Island Road from west of Little Pine Island Bridge (Bridge No. 120111) to West of Shoreview Drive.
- Motorists can expect traffic shifts and flagging operations as crews work on drainage and utility installation along the causeway. Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers.
- Motorists can expect occasional delays due to flagging operations for delivery/removal of materials, transfer of equipment.
- Please use caution and watch for workers and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway.
- Please be alerted to construction equipment in the construction zone. To maintain safety, motorists should find alternate parking areas.
- Pedestrians and bicyclists are not permitted within the construction zone.
- Noise from construction equipment in the area is to be expected.
- Please be patient and plan for additional travel time as it may be slower than usual in the area.

SR 70 from Manatee County Line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.
- Motorists should expect intermittent shoulder closures along SR 70 throughout the project.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on SR 70 from Manatee County line to County Road 661 throughout the project.

SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street, improve drainage and cross slope correction, construct sidewalks on both sides of SR 64 in various locations, and install guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. During construction motorists should expect the possibility of daytime and nighttime lane closures on SR 64 from Main Street to Spruce Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zone.
- Motorists can expect eastbound and westbound SR 64 lane closures/flagging operations from Main Street to US 17 May 13 – 18, 2024.
- Motorists can expect paving operations which will entail longer closures and longer queues. Please follow signs and use caution in the area.

US 98 from East of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County Line: Construction project: Crews will resurface US 98 from east of CR 621 to the Okeechobee County line, reconstruct US 98 in various areas, widen shoulders, replace guardrail, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there may be daytime and nighttime lane closures and traffic will be reduced to one lane in various areas; temporary signals will be installed to guide motorists. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.
- Motorists should expect intermittent daytime lane closures between Kissimmee River Bridge and approx. 0.7 miles south of CR 621 to install temporary barrier wall, attenuator pads, and temporary striping.
- Temporary traffic signals will be utilized starting at 500 feet north of the Kissimmee River Bridge to 500 feet south of the bridge reducing bridge traffic to one lane. This will allow bridge and guardrail work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 14, 2024. Traffic will stop at the designated stop bar and proceed as directed by the signal system.
- Please Note: Temporary traffic signals will be utilized per FDOT index 102-606, bringing the roadway down to one lane for bridge and guardrail work. Please be aware that the lane width will only be 11.5 feet wide, and motorists should use caution.

US 27 from Palm Beach County Line to East of San Diego Street: Construction project: Crews will be resurfacing US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street, widening and paving road shoulders along medians, making drainage improvements and cross slope corrections, replacing guardrail, reconstructing ADA ramps to ensure compliance, and install signing and pavement markings. During construction there will be lane closures on US 27 from the Palm Beach County line to east of San Diego Street. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers in the work zones.
- Motorists should expect northbound and southbound outside lane closures from May 15-16, 2024, as crews perform shoulder work.

SR 70 From Highlands County Line to SW 21st Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be working on radial widening, drainage, signage, temporary barrier wall, traffic markings, guardrail, roadway milling and resurfacing. There will be lane closures during construction on SR 70.
- Motorists should expect intermittent daytime eastbound and westbound lane closures while crews work on temporary widening, barrier wall installation, and guardrail.

SR 777 River Road from I-75 to US 41: Construction project: Motorists can expect final pond grading and sodding near Venice Avenue on the northbound roadway. Embankment activities continue on southbound roadway from US 41 to Stoney Creek Boulevard. Drainage structures, pipe, curb and gutter, and gravity wall installations will also continue throughout the project. Signal, ITS, and lighting work is also on-going throughout the project. Daytime Asphalt paving of Southbound River is tentatively scheduled to continue on May 13, 2024. Paving will occur outside of current travel ways and lane closures will not be needed. Trucks will be crossing the road at various locations using intermittent flagging operations.

SR 70 from Peace River to Southeast Baker Street: Construction project: Crews will reconstruct approximately 3.4 miles of SR 70 within the City of Arcadia, add new drainage facilities, add new and relocate sanitary and watermain utilities, install new traffic signals, reconstruct sidewalks, and add street lighting in various locations. During construction there will be lane closure on SR 70. Temporary pedestrian pathways will be installed for pedestrians during construction while sidewalks are under construction and detours will be in place during construction, while crews work on side roads; please follow signage and use caution in these areas.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on westbound and eastbound SR 70 from Baker Street to the apex of eastbound and westbound SR 70.
- Robert Ave. at eastbound SR 70 is closed. A detour is in place at Luther Avenue. Please follow detour signs and allow extra travel time.
- Motorists should expect nighttime lane closures on SR 70 westbound of the Peace River and east of US 17, while crews work on utilities.
- New traffic pattern: Northbound US 17 traffic will merge into one lane at SR 70 westbound. All truck traffic travelling westbound on SR 70 wanting to go northbound on US 17 will be detoured to US 17 southbound, then to SR 70 eastbound and then to US 17 northbound.
Estimated completion is summer 2026.

US 27 Sidewalks in Clewiston at Various Locations and from Royal Palm Avenue and Ponce De Leon Avenue: Construction project: Crews will be adding sidewalks along the north and south side of US 27, the east side of San Luiz Avenue, the west side of Berner Road, and on US 27 extending north along Ponce De Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Avenue to Balboa Plaza. Additional work includes drainage improvements and resurfacing the intersection between US 27 and Berner Road, side streets, and turnouts. During sidewalk construction, pedestrian detours will be in place; please follow signage. During construction there may be lane closures on Berner Road, San Luiz Avenue, Royal Palm Avenue, and Ponce DeLeon Avenue. Please use caution and watch for crews working in the work zone.
- Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures at the intersections of Royal Palm Avenue and Osceola Avenue, and San Luiz Avenue and Ventura Avenue.

US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line: Construction project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing US 27 from Fisheating Creek to the Highlands County line. Other improvements include widening, guardrail, and signing and pavement markings. The bridge over Fisheating Creek will be repaired/rehabilitated including pile jacketing and spall repairs. During construction daytime lane closures may occur on US 27.
- Motorists should expect daytime and nighttime intermittent lane closures on US 27 throughout the project limits until project completion.
Please use caution in the construction zone and watch for workers in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2024.

Road Watch Update:
US 41 from south of Hickory Drive to Emerson Square Boulevard: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing and widening the roadway along with reconstructing medians at Hickory Drive, San Carlos Boulevard, Shadow Creek Boulevard, and Harborage Drive.
Nighttime work to include Sign installations, Median Construction at Hickory, Side Street Milling & Resurfacing and Mainline (Travel Lanes) Paving.
Newly constructed median left turns will be opening as signing and pavement markings are completed within the next two weeks.
Nighttime lane closures scheduled for the next 3 weeks, Sunday thru Friday Nights.
Daytime activities will include signalization work at:
- San Carlos Blvd
- Sanibel Blvd.
- Constitution Blvd
Miscellaneous shoulder closures and sidewalk detours to accommodate shoulder and sidewalk construction.

Legacy Trail over Clark Road (SR 72) and Bee Ridge Road (SR 758) Construction Project: Crews have begun constructing two new pedestrian bridges and intersection improvements along the Legacy Trail in Sarasota County. Expect noise from construction equipment, large trucks, and back-up alarms. Occasional nighttime shoulder and/or lane closures during construction to install beams will also be needed. Expected completion is winter 2024/2025.
- Occasional flagging operations will be needed.
- Use caution in the area as large construction vehicles enter/ exit the roadway.

I-75 at US 301 Interchange (Exit 224): Construction project: Project will widen the I-75 from SR 64 to the Manatee River, reconfigure the I-75/US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, construct new bridges will be constructed over the Manatee River for a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp, and US 301 improvements. This week, crews will work on I-75 widening, drainage and utility work on US 301, and pile driving and beam installing for the construction of the new bridges over the Manatee River and Salt Marsh Bridge.
- Motorists should expect single lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect double lane closures on I-75 northbound during nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the construction; double closures on I-75 southbound during the nighttime/overnight hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on US 301 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
