Punta Gorda, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites you to a public hearing for the Harborview Road Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study Re-evaluation from Melbourne Street to I-75 in Charlotte County on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. These improvements are intended to address the projected number of vehicles that will be generated by future population and economic growth.

FDOT previously completed a PD&E or Project Development & Environment Study for Harborview Road in October 2019.  This study evaluated and documented the benefits, costs, and impacts of widening Harborview Road from the existing two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided highway.  FDOT is now preparing final design plans for this project, and the original proposed right-of-way impacts have changed.

The public hearing is held to present information about the changes in design which includes the re-evaluation of the engineering and environmental analysis completed to date and to provide the opportunity for the public to offer feedback for the official hearing record.

You can participate live online or in-person. The information presented during either format will be the same and all attendees will have the opportunity to comment.
