Welcome

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study for the CR 664 Bridge over Little Payne Creek, located in Hardee County, Florida. A map with the project limits is shown below.

The existing bridge was constructed in 1915 and is now functionally obsolete. The recommended improvement includes replacing the bridge with a new, two lane bridge. The new structure will bring this facility up to current standards.

This proposed project involves the use of properties protected under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966. A Section 106 Case Study is being conducted, as required. The proposed undertaking will result in an “adverse effect” to the NRHP-eligible (National Register of Historic Places) Little Payne Creek Bridge (8HR00374). Mitigation strategies are currently being discussed.

Study Update

FDOT recently held a 15-day review and comment period of the Section 106 materials below as well as an opportunity to request a public hearing. While the comment period for the formal Section 106 process is closed, FDOT will accept comments for the general project record at any time.
