This week, crews will be clearing existing vegetation between Lorraine Road and De Webb Boulevard on the south side of SR 70 and clearing the Pond A area on the north side of SR 70, west of Uihlein Road and excavating. Crews will continue excavating the Pond area on the southeast corner of Bourneside Boulevard and SR 70. Material will be hauled to the south side of SR 70 between Bourneside Boulevard and Uihlein Road and placed as roadway fill. Drainage work will begin on SR 70 east of Bourneside Boulevard.
Work will continue constructing eastbound bridges, this will involve driving bridge piles via hydraulic hammer and grading the river channel. This work will occur during daytime hours and produce noise that may be audible to the surrounding area. Bridge work will continue into summer.
All work will be off the roadway with no planned lane closures. Please use caution and watch for trucks and construction vehicles entering or exiting the work zone by way of the eastbound SR 70 shoulder. Work will occur Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please use caution and be aware of workers and flaggers in the area.

SR 70 from Manatee County Line to CR 661: Construction project: Crews will resurface SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661, widen turn lanes and road shoulders, regrade ditches and improve drainage, and perform full depth roadway reconstruction at various locations. During construction the speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph and there will be periodic lane closures on SR 70 from the Manatee County line to CR 661.
