Project Description

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is designing safety improvements on US 41 (SR 45) from 63rd Avenue West to 53rd Avenue West in Manatee County. This segment of US 41 is a seven-lane undivided roadway with a posted speed of 45 mph. Left turns from US 41 are currently accommodated by a continuous two-way left turn lane.

Project Improvements

To enhance traffic flow and improve safety, the project will convert the continuous turn lane into a raised 11-foot-wide median with traffic separators and directional openings. The proposed design project will incorporate raised medians and traffic separators, mill and resurface the roadway, replace signal loops, and apply new pavement markings. This project will also facilitate future corridor enhancements, which will include adding signalized mid-block pedestrian crossings.
