About the Project

The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) contractor, Sacyr Construction, will begin construction summer 2018 to widen SR 82 from Alabama Road to the Lee/Hendry County Line from an existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided highway, with completion estimated by the end of 2020. Additional improvements include 6.5- foot paved shoulders, bike lanes, a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side. The project will also add a grass median and LED lighting throughout this segment. Crews will begin work mid-June with installation of construction signs and silt fencing for erosion control. Work occurs during the day and during nighttime/overnight hours. Lane closures on SR 82 may occur in both the westbound and eastbound travel lanes from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
